On Global, Endemic, Gaia and Crisis

Presentation of an international art and science project

Tue September 20/2022, 7 p.m.

SOHO STUDIOS, Liebknechtgasse 32, 1160 Wien

In 2018, Manolo Cocho, artist and curator from Mexico, started a long term project on global, endemic, Gaia and crisis as international and multi-disciplinary movement that seeks and stimulates a reflection on the past two centuries and the present. The aim is to imagine the future from single points of view as well as in its complexity, taking in account developments in technology, economy, politics, ecology and more. Manolo Cocho managed to establish and incite collaborations between a large number of artists and theorists from all around the world. After the exhibition of Global vs Endemic that took place at C3 (Centro de Sciencias de la Complejidad at the UNAM in Mexico City) in March 2019, this forward fired arrow flashed two more times with contemplation on Global – Endemic Crisis and Crisis Gaia.

In his presentation, Manolo Cocho will show the past exhibitions and talk about the most important points of the project. Two co-curators and authors of the texts, Denise Parizek and Vasja Nagy-Hofbauer will explain their own positions about the topic.

The event will take place in English and German.
